Two BHS teachers on administration leave NOT fired for vile conversation against students

Nelson-Chiprez, chairwoman of the Social Studies Department at BHS, and Chris Kyhl, a math teacher at the school, communicated with one another with derogatory content about students in their classrooms.

The conversation began on October 23rd.  It began as follows:

Khyl: “Good lord, I hate my 4th period. Haha,”
Chiprez: “Me too! They suck (expletive).”
Chiprez: “Where are you? Your sub lost control in period 4. What the hell, I just took a stick out of one of your kids hands while he was running through the hall with it before class.”
Chiprez: “period 4 was (expletive) nuts. I had to go over there twice, (the sub) finally sent someone to (Responsible Thinking Classroom).”
Chiprez: “your kids are (expletive).”
Khyl:  “God help me gonna smack some kids.”
Chiprez:  “aaaammmeenn.”

Jane Evans had little to say about the incident but expressed that the two teachers are currently on administrative leave while an investigation is being conducted.

4 teenagers bullies and attacks kid (Video)

Four teenagers attacked one teenager by the means of bullying.  In the video, it shows the kid being punched, kicked, pushed, and things being taken from him.  Unconfirmed reports suggest that the fighting took place nearby the Burlington Community High School's administration building.

The video was originally uploaded on Facebook between November 2-3.

The video was handed to the local police department.  The attackers were identified.  The school district is requesting to prosecute them.

Evans writes bs letter to parents about school saftey

Evans writes a letter to parents ensuring them that their school district is safe from harm.

Grimshaw and Evans blame parents for disruptive children; wants them to monitor their Facebook activity

Here is the article in question.

This is a very interesting read.  In the first page of the article, Evans and Grimshaw blame Facebook for having drama and other problems that students are posting about.  Evans failed to bring up at least one incident of anything linked to Facebook.  Both Evans and Grimshaw agree to having the students' Facebook accounts monitored by parents.  Talk about huge privacy issues.

The second page of the article splits off into blaming the parents for the students' disruptive behavior.  Both Evans and Grimshaw blames that the problems start at home and that the parents and students would need to work with their school in order to resolve the problem.

Smooth move, Burlington Community School District.  Same goes with the 4+ students who committed suicide in the West Burlington School District.

Hoelzon talks about how students wouldn't be fighting if there is no crowd watching them.  That is crap.  Students will dish it out whether there is anyone there or not.  Someone aggravated enough would be willing to attack them whether in a crowd or not.

As for the 'bathroom moderating', get the hell out of the bathrooms, punk.  There is no reason for this person to 'investigate' an opposite sex's bathroom.  That goes beyond policy.

Surveys shown that Burlington High School is unsafe; proof that security cameras aren't helping

According to the 2011 and 2012 Burlington Index Report, the Burlington High School's safe school index is at a low.  You can find the reports here.  http://www.burlington.k12.ia.us/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=42&Itemid=58

2011

2012

Despite having cameras all around the school and the doors of classrooms and entrances are locked down since 2006, the safety index is still at a low rate.

Its questionable whether there is any enforceable actions done to reduce the violence.  Its also questionable about whether these statistics are accurate or not.  For example, the 2012 version of the states that student's physical and emotional safety are high.

Another thing to consider is that there is a statement within the documents that says that these are surveys.  In 2012, only 71% of students filled out a survey while in 2011 data shows no statistic of how many had participated.  The problem with surveys is that not all the students are always accurate and truthful.  Some rush the survey while some others lie in some of the answers.

What makes this interesting of a statistic is the fact that despite the surveys being inaccurate in the most part, the safety index of the school is still low.

I'm curious about the documents from before 2010.  Unfortunately, the BCSD's website has no statistics showing the safety from previous years.
