Fireworks Fiasco on Maple Hills

KBUR reported of illegal fireworks going off near Circle K Gas Station as well as surrounding areas. Police were on scene filming each of the individuals who were responsible.  It was reported that fireworks were being shot off both at people and vehicles.

Nearby residents photographed and filmed different areas of the scene before and after the fireworks were shut off.  Broken glass was seen on the street as a street cleaner rolled around to clean up the mess.

On U.S. 34, a small fire ignited near the road as a result from firework use days before the fireworks incident on Maple.

Burlington Council member Tim Scott expressed on KBUR radio later in the week on the culprit's Facebook status that was provided to him at the city council meeting.  He read the post that was made the day of the incident prior to fireworks being fired off.

The former Chicago resident now a Burlington resident reported to have a large amount of friends liking and commenting on the status making him an influence of the violence the night of the incident.

City council budget logic

I find it funny that even though the other programs were reduced from their funding or planned to be eliminated, the numerous of other programs are still creating more debt.  Will these other programs make the cut?  I highly doubt it.

Rec Plex hasn't been as much of a popular place as when it was first opened.  With the costs of keeping it up with low turnout rates, it continues to drive up the debt.

As for the Flint Hills Golf Course, it may be similar to the Rec Plex's issue only they are limited to warmer seasons and only one specific activity: golf.  Not only that, their prices for seasonal and individual plays are outrageous.

As for the Vision Iowa Improvement, that ties together for projects such as The Burlington Public Library, Burlington Bees Community Field, Burlington Memorial Auditorium, Flint River Trail (big joke), Des Moines County Heritage Center, and Big Hollow Nature Center.  While most of these are good to bring tourism, its costing taxpayers plenty of money that isn't generating enough revenue.  While there were talks about cutting a small bit of funding for the library and reducing the number of employees working at the auditorium, there is still a great deal of debt that wouldn't be addressed like it should have been addressed decades ago.

Don't get me started with the 3% franchise fee.

Tim Scott blasting city council for lack of public non-agenda discussions, Fleming disagrees with the idea

A newspaper article was published in The Hawk Eye in regards to a comment made by former mayor Tim Scott.  http://www.thehawkeye.com/story/City2-100212

The entire conversation can be listened through this link.

The Hawk Eye never acknowledged about Robert Fleming's comments in regards to Tim Scott's discussion nor as the article discussed anything else about the conversation other than what was listed
.
After Mayor Davidson agreed with Tim Scott and the problem the City Council has with not giving feedback to the public about concerns, Fleming disagrees of it entirely.

Flemings opinion about people's discussions.

Fleming disagreeing with Scott's discussion entirely.

It makes me wonder why The Hawk Eye didn't add the disagreeing comment Fleming had made.  Maybe for re-election purposes?
